BNP supporter loses unfair dismissal case
30/03/2010
Mark Walker, 39, was suspended from his position at the Sunnydale Community College in Shildon, County Durham in March 2007 because of his absenteeism and was sacked 20 months later, the Northern Echo revealed.
However, Mr Walker claimed that he had been targeted by his employer because of his political beliefs.
The newspaper explained that the Newcastle tribunal had unanimously dismissed the former teacher's case, but that it has yet to publish its reasons.
A representative from Mr Walker's union, Solidarity, commented that Mr Walker will take further action against Durham County Council.
Spokesperson Patrick Harrington told the publication that Mr Walker could bring a claim because of the stress caused by the disciplinary process.
